The International Community of Unitarian Universalists (ICUU) is re-born!       Many Voices, One Global Community       We Didn't Forget You!

About ICUU

The global coordinating body for Unitarian, Universalist, and UU communities worldwide — connecting diverse communities across Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, North America, and Oceania.

What is ICUU?

The International Community of Unitarians and Universalists (ICUU) is the global coordinating body for Unitarian, Universalist, and Unitarian Universalist communities worldwide. Our network spans established denominations, emerging fellowships, and grassroots groups across Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, North America, and Oceania, each contributing its own culture, theology, and history to enrich the global movement.

Founded on the belief that diverse individuals and communities are stronger when they collaborate across borders, the ICUU serves as a global platform for leadership development, community building, resource sharing, and international cooperation. Our goal is to create a vibrant international network that advances freedom of belief, ethical leadership, and positive social change for future generations.

Through meaningful partnerships and member engagement, we work to strengthen existing communities while supporting the growth of emerging Unitarian and Unitarian Universalist groups worldwide. As a globally representative organisation, ICUU is committed to fostering understanding, inclusivity, and mutual support among people of different cultures, languages, and traditions.

Why the ICUU is Needed Now More Than Ever

The ICUU is being reestablished as an independent, globally governed non-profit organisation. Drawing on the legacy of the original ICUU (1995–2021), it will deliberately correct the structural weaknesses that led to the initial dissolution.

Emerging UU communities in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Europe require a peer-based global forum — not just a US denomination's outreach arm. No other international Unitarian or UU structure currently accepts national organisations as members, leaving a clear, unmet need for a genuine membership-based international body.

Having secured the original icuu.org domain, the revived ICUU is positioned to reclaim the historical trust of the global network that the original organisation built over 26 years — charting an entirely independent course free from dependency on any single national body.
